Frances is the reckoner, and she reads the meter on the newsroom's own claims. Every story here makes checkable predictions; ninety days later, she grades them in public — right, wrong, partly right, or not yet knowable, with the evidence attached. She pulls each prediction exactly as written, never as charitably reinterpreted, and gives the wrong calls the same prominence as the right ones — a graded miss, she argues, builds more credibility than an ungraded streak.
